Noni Madueke has leapt to the defence of Raheem Sterling after his Chelsea team-mate issued a public apology following their FA Cup victory over Leicester.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side advanced to the semi-finals but it was a day to forget for Sterling who missed a host of great chances and was booed on three separate occasions by his own supporters.
Among those misses was a tame penalty after he took the ball off team-mate Cole Palmer.
Sterling in a message on social media wrote: ‘To all the Chelsea fans, apologies for the penalty miss.
‘I’ll be back 10x stronger to help the team win and continue to keep fighting for the badge every day. Let’s go Blues.’

Madueke leapt to his defence while also snapping back at a Chelsea supporter who said that an apology was ‘needed’ by Sterling
A number of team-mates including Ben Chilwell, Cole Palmer and Madueke all came to his defence insisting that he had no reason to apologise.
Madueke in his reply wrote: ‘Bro no need to apologise… we appreciate you g.’
One fan wrote back to the former PSV player telling him that an apology was ‘needed’.
The 22-year-old fired back writing: ‘Be quiet man, people like you are the issue.’
As well as missing from the penalty spot, Sterling also sent a glorious opportunity wide of the post after he was sent through one-on-one with the Leicester goalkeeper in the first-half.
After the former Liverpool and Man City star skied a free-kick in the second-half, Chelsea fans responded with loud jeers for the 29-year-old.

Sterling was booed again when Pochettino decided to replace Mykhailo Mudryk instead of the England international, when Chelsea were still searching for a winner.
He was then jeered a third time when he was eventually taken off in the 86th minute, with Madueke coming on as his replacement.
Stoppage time goals from substitutes Carney Chukwuemeka and Madueke sealed a 4-2 win for Chelsea, who will face Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
