Cole Palmer was among the topics on the agenda as Chris Sutton and Ian Ladyman sat down for the latest episode of It’s All Kicking Off!
Palmer netted four goals in the first half of Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Brighton on Saturday to become the leading English scorer in the Premier League this season – just as he was last season.
Sutton self-deprecatingly pointed out that Palmer had now scored more goals in one half than he had managed in 39 games for Chelsea during the 1999-00 campaign.
Ladyman then posed a question about Palmer: ‘How does he get in the England team?’
The former Manchester City forward has scored two goals in nine appearances for the Three Lions so far, but he has seldom been a starter for his country.

Palmer featured five times at Euro 2024, all as a substitute, including in the final when he came off the bench to score against Spain.
Sutton said the question should actually be: ‘How does he not get in the England team? Who keeps him out with his form?’
After much deliberation, Sutton and Ladyman decided that Palmer should probably get into Lee Carsley’s team instead of Arsenal star Bukayo Saka right now.
