Postecoglou struck a defiant tone in his response, but could barely conceal his irritation at the journalistâs who asked whether he could win a trophy in his second season at Spurs.
âYeah, absolutely,â the Australian manger responded. âAm I going to answer the question or are you going to keep asking it?
âNo, absolutely. Iâll correct myself. I donât usually win things, I always win things in my second year.
âNothing has changed. I donât say things unless I believe them.â
Postecoglou has been criticised for Tottenhamâs poor record for defending set-pieces but asserted he âdoesnât careâ about the criticism.
He said: âI know, I know, for some reason people think I donât care about set pieces and itâs a narrative that you can keep going on for ages and ages.
âI understand that. Like I said, we work on them all the time like we do for every other team.Â
âYou know that theyâre a threat, as I said, for the most part, we handled them really well today, but we switched off for one and we paid a price and you learn from that and you move on.
âBut it is what it is, you know, itâs my burden to carry mate and Iâm happy to do that.
âItâs not like, like Iâve always said, for me, thereâs a bigger picture thatâs at play here thatâs much more important than the finer details of us getting to where we want to.Â

At Celtic, Postecoglou failed to win anything in his first season in charge in 2020/21, but in his second campaign, 2021/22, he managed the team to a Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup title.
In Japan, he managed Yokohama F Marinos from 2017/18 onwards, steering the Japanese team to their first J League title in15 years.
He also won the Asian Cup with Australia in 2014/15, having taking on the top role for the menâs national team in 2013.
