Roy Keane has named the Manchester United player who he doesn’t trust to start matches.

The individual made a significant impact after coming off the bench as United beat Leicester 2-1 in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night.

However, former United star Keane believes that the player is better suited to featuring as a substitute at present.

Keane’s fellow ITV pundit Ian Wright admitted that he was surprised that United boss Ruben Amorim didn’t start the player against Leicester.

Leicester took the lead at Old Trafford through a goal from Bobby De Cordova-Reid just before half time.

However, Joshua Zirkzee equalised for United in the second half before Harry Maguire scored the winner against his former club in stoppage time.

Alejandro Garnacho entered the fray at the start of the second half as he replaced debutant Patrick Dorgu.

Garnacho’s pace and flair caused numerous problems for Leicester in the second half.

However, Keane believes that the 20-year-old doesn’t warrant a starting berth for United at present.

Speaking on ITV, Keane said: ‘I think it suits him when it comes off the bench, I don’t think you can trust him when he starts.

‘But when he comes off the bench and you’re gambling and the team is stretched, that’s when he comes into his own.

‘They put Leicester on the backfoot and the subs came on. That’s what Garnacho does well. The first-half they were going sideways and sideways. He came on and tested them.’

Wright expressed his belief that Garnacho should have started the game.

He said: ‘I am very surprised Garnacho did not start in this game, he did the same in the game against Liverpool [when he came on].

‘He comes on and you can’t deal with him. He comes on with pace and attacks.’

Garnacho had been linked with a move away from United in the January transfer window, with Chelsea and Napoli seen as potential destinations.

However, the Argentina international ended up staying at United and he will now look to become a key part of Amorim’s plans.

Garnacho has made 123 senior appearances for United and has scored 23 goals, while he has provided 15 assists.

In the Premier League this season Garnacho has been named in the starting lineup 13 times, while he has featured as a substitute on ten occasions.
