Germany legend Bastian Schweinsteiger was caught in a hilarious mix-up during coverage of his nation’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Sunday.
The World Cup winner was working as a pundit for broadcaster ARD and he took to the field holding a cup of coffee, along with his microphone, to conduct a piece a camera pre-match.
Schweinsteiger was teased about the beverage by presenter Esther Sedlaczek, a point he acknowledged and took in good spirit before getting his wires crossed.
The 39-year-old began to speak into the cup of coffee, mistaking it for his microphone. That promoted Sedlaczek to point out his error before he quickly swapped his hands back around.
The funny moment was mocked by fans on social media, who had their fun at the former Manchester United midfielder’s expense.

Schweinsteiger watched on as Germany claimed the point needed in their final group game to secure top spot. Niclas Fullkrug scored late against Switzerland to snatch a 1-1 draw.
As a result, the hosts will play the side who finishes second in Group C, including England, Denmark, Serbia and Slovenia.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side have been impressive in the tournament so far but they well have to play the last-16 tie without their first-choice central defensive pairing of Jonathan Tah and Antonio Rudiger.

The Bayer Leverkusen star picked up a booking in Sunday’s game that will mean he is suspended for Germany’s next game while Rudiger sustained a thing injury which has put his involvement in serious doubt.
