Brighton are set to complete a move for one of Sunderland’s highly-rated young starlets on transfer deadline day.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have a long track record of snapping up young stars that have gone on to not just thrive in the first-team, but seen the Seagulls make a huge profit in future windows.

While Brighton have been struggling to replicate the stunning form of last term, they have been fairly quiet in the January market.

However, that looks set to change as they near a move for a teenage attacking-midfielder from the Black Cats.

Mail Sport understands that the player is already in Brighton to finalise a deal to join the Amex club, with their current contract at the Stadium of Light set to expire at the end of the season.

The player in question – Josh Robertson – is a bright young attacking talent coming out of Sunderland, having graduated from the Black Cat’s youth academy.

Robertson – who is eligible to represent both Cyprus and England – joined Sunderland at the age of nine back in 2014.

So far this term in the Premier League 2, Robertson has an impressive five strikes to his name with three of those coming against Leeds, as well as registering an assist.

Adept primarily as an influence in attack through the centre of midfield, Robertson can also feature off either flank as well as in a deeper role in the middle of the park.
