Senegal manager Aliou Cisse was taken to hospital following his side’s win over Cameroon on Friday.

The Lions of Teranga continued their impressive defence of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-1 win that secured their place in the knockout phase.

However, Cisse suffered a health scare and was treated by medical staff for a ‘benign infectious pathology’ at a local hospital in Yamoussoukro where he stayed overnight.

The 47-year-old has since been released and returned to the side. A statement by the Senegalese federation said: ‘The tests are reassuring and he is back with his group’.

‘He’s doing well,’ Senegal team spokesperson Kara Thioune added.

Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diallo and Sadio Mane were the goalscorers on Friday as Senegal swept aside Cameroon.

Cisse urged his players to ‘stay focused’, saying: ‘I congratulate the players because they played a great match. They respected my instructions and all the advice that I gave them.
