Sir Dave Brailsford has reportedly unveiled an ambitious plan to help Manchester United win the Premier League again.
United have endured a dismal 12 years since last winning the top flight in 2012-13 in what was Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge of the club.
That triumph was United’s 20th English league title but the club has fallen on hard times since, with their highest finish being second, while they have also regularly failed to qualify for the Champions League.
And according to The Times, Brailsford, director of sport at Ineos, has unveiled his ‘Mission 21’ plan, which is all about delivering United’s 21st English league title.
The report claims the former British Cycling chief is set to become increasingly involved in performance at Old Trafford alongside technical director Jason Wilcox.
This comes after Dan Ashworth was dismissed as sporting director in December following just five months in the role.

United have won the English top flight title 20 times, but their last triumph came back in 2013
Brailsford has been a major presence around the club since Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased his 28 per cent stake in United just over a year ago, and it seems as if he is going to play an integral role in transforming United’s performance culture.
As per the report, Brailsford is said to have drafted a blueprint for United’s future alongside James Morton, detailing how they plan to win that elusive 21st title.
Morton worked with Brailsford at Team Sky when he was the head of nutrition and physical performance, and is currently a professor of exercise metabolism at Liverpool John Moores University.
Morton previously worked as Liverpool’s performance nutritionist from 2010 to 2015, while he also fulfils a performance mentoring role to the Premier League.
The report goes onto claim that Brailsford and Morton presented the Mission 21 plan late last year to senior performance staff from the club, which actually came before Ashworth’s exit.
Alongside Mission 21, Brailsford and Morton have also prepared a Mission 1 plan, which focused on United’s women’s team winning their first WSL title.
Marc Skinner’s side are second in the league and this aim will be welcomed by many at United given Ratcliffe has been criticised for supposed his lack of support for the women’s team since arriving at the club.
The new plans come after United CEO Omar Berrada revealed his ‘Project 150’ initiative last year, which is focused on the club winning the Premier League on their 150th anniversary in 2028.
