The Shirt that Defined My Career: Frank Clark’s Nottingham Forest Home 1978-79 Jersey Worn during European Cup Victory

Winning the European Cup in 1979 was the pinnacle of my career.

I was sweating on a starting place so when Brian Clough came over on the morning of the match to say I was in, the over-riding emotion was relief.

We beat Malmo 1-0 in Munich with Trevor Francis scoring.

We played in our home kit which was good quality and not too flash, which suited me fine.

My celebrations that night weren’t the best. My wife couldn’t come over as we had a baby daughter, so I had dinner with Archie Gemmill — who was miserable because he’d been left out of the team! I’ve still got my shirt though.
