Title: Drake’s $3 Million Bet on Argentina vs. Canada in Copa America Semifinal

Drake has backed his native Canada to shock Argentina in Tuesday’s Copa America semifinal, with the rapper in line for a $3million payday if Jesse Marsch’s side spring an upset.

Canada has enjoyed a fairytale run to the last four, where defending champions Argentina await at MetLife Stadium.

Lionel Messi and Co are heavy favorites to reach Sunday’s final but that has not deterred Drake from backing his compatriots.

‘This could get Messi,’ the rapper wrote alongside a receipt of his $300,000 bet on Canada to win at odds of 9.60 (+860).

If Marsch’s side do secure the upset, Drake – who is already estimated to be worth $250m – will pocket another $2.88m.

The rapper has been branded a ‘curse’ after fans noticed that athletes or teams had a habit of hitting trouble after being pictured with – or backed by – the Canadian.

Earlier this year, he lost a $500,000 bet on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup, only to see them be beaten by the Panthers in Game 7. He lost another $500,000 after backing the Dallas Mavericks to beat the Boston Celtics in the NBA finals.

Back in 2022, however, Drake made 2$.75m after putting $1m on Messi and Argentina to beat France in the World Cup final.

Argentina are the No 1 ranked team in the world, with Canada down in 48th. The two sides met in the opening game of the tournament, with Messi inspiring the world champions to a 2-0 win.

But Canada have since gone on to reach the last four after beating Peru, drawing with Chile and then knocking out Venezuela on penalties.
