8.8 Predicted Points vs Fulham (H)

Despite attractive home games for Arsenal against Southampton and Chelsea versus Nottingham Forest, it’s Manchester City’s Erling Haaland who holds firm as the best captain pick heading into FPL Gameweek 7. Fulham visit the Etihad, with Haaland logging four goals and one assist in this fixture over previous years.

Haaland blanked for the first time this season last time out, but he still has 10 goals from six appearances, including a flawless scoring record at home, where he’s produced six goals in three games. He remains top for shots on target with 21 and big chances with 10, plus he is on penalties.

Manchester City have had more shots (115) than any other team in this campaign, with Fulham keeping just one clean sheet this season, conceding five goals. They have, however, conceded only eight big chances on their goal in that time – the best record of any side in the Premier League.

Best Differential Pick: Jarrod Bowen

5.3 Predicted Points vs Ipswich Town (H)

One team very low-owed in FPL are West Ham, with talisman Jarrod Bowen in just 5.5 per cent of sides. He has produced one goal and two assists to date across some challenging fixtures to start the campaign, with West Ham picking up just one win and two draws in a new era under Julen Lopetegui.

However, despite their poor form, there have been glimmers of promise. They rank seventh for shots this season on 87, with Bowen producing 10 shots himself. He has also created 14 chances for his team-mates. He has some involvement in set pieces, too, taking 19 corners.

The main attraction for Bowen though is the fixture this week, which is at home to promoted Ipswich Town. Ipswich have conceded 10 goals this campaign, keeping just one clean sheet. It’s fells like a must-win game for West Ham, who are sitting sitting 14th in the Premier League table after six games.

Best Defender Pick: Gabriel

6.1 Predicted Points vs Southampton (H)

Arsenal’s defence was undone by Leicester City’s James Justin last time out, but they remain clean sheet favourites going into Gameweek 7 as they host promoted Southampton. The Saints have scored just three goals this season, the fewest of any side.

Gabriel remains the obvious pick from the Gunners defence, with two goals this campaign to go alongside three clean sheets. While we have seen some changes in personnel in the full back spots, Gabriel’s centre back pairing with William Saliba remains consistent.

Despite some tough upcoming fixtures for Arsenal, Gabriel remains the top pick over the next four gameweeks and is predicted to score 0.9 points more than any other defender this weekend. He ranks top in his position for shots in the box and big chances this campaign.

Best Premium Midfield Pick: Cole Palmer

7.8 Predicted Points vs Nottingham Forest (H)

Chelsea’s Palmer stole the headlines last weekend, scoring all four Chelsea goals in the win against Brighton. That performance landed him 25 points to be the King of the Gameweek, with the highest score of any player in any game so far this season.

That ranks Palmer as the highest scoring midfielder this season with 10 goal involvements for the campaign and he should be the key transfer focus among premium midfielders this week. He has the perfect blend of form and immediate fixture.

Palmer’s early season fitness concerns are behind him and he also has the midweek off as he wasn’t included in the blues UEFA Europa Conference League squad for the league phase. Opponents Nottingham Forest have kept two clean sheet this season.

Best Mid-Priced Forward Pick: Kai Havertz

6.3 Predicted Points vs Southampton (H)

Arsenal have the fixture of the weekend at home to Southampton, with some mouth-watering attacking picks available. Last time out the Gunners registered 36 shots against Leicester City and a repeat performance is expected in this game, with Kai Havertz set to lead the line once more.

Last time out, Havertz led the way for shots in the box with six, also topping the expected goals numbers for the Gunners. He had three big chances on goal last week and will need to improve his finishing to build on the goal last time out, but he has four goal involvements for the season, all coming at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Southampton sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, with just one point from their opening six games, proving a clear disparity in the quality of these two teams. They’ve conceded 12 goals this campaign from 21 big chances.
