Chelsea eye ENORMOUS profit as Brighton target January transfer
Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo has struggled to make an impression for Enzo Maresca, but with Brighton seeking to sign the former Fulham star, he could give the clubâs bank balance a huge boost.
Tosin joined Chelsea as a free agent in the summer in what was a surprising move given that he is 27, therefore going against the clubâs typical signing model, and possessed no previous experience at a top club.
He has struggled for game time in the first half of the season. He has featured 18 times but managed just 642 minutes in the Premier League, falling down the pecking order and suffering a new blow as the Blues recalled Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace this week.
With rumours that the Stamford Bridge side are also seeking to land Palace defender Marc Guehi before the transfer window closes, Adarabioyo could also move on.
Brighton have expressed an interest in signing the Manchester City academy product in a deal that could land Chelsea a lucrative transfer bonus, the Daily Mail reports.
Adarabioyo might only have joined the Blues in July, but after joining for nothing, the Stamford Bridge side are set to make a giant profit on the player.
Under contract until 2028, Tosinâs only previous transfer was when Fulham signed him from City for âŹ1.7m.
This time around, he would leave for a far higher fee. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is âŹ11.1m, but it may well be that a deal is struck at a higher figure than this.
Tosin plays down Chelsea exit
Adarabioyo is not actively pushing to leave Chelsea, making Brightonâs quest to sign the tall centre-back even more difficult.
Speaking to the clubâs official website recently, he said: âIt definitely feels like home now. Itâs been quite seamless settling in, knowing the manager and a few of the boys. Itâs been great.
âWhen you join a top club like Chelsea, there are top players in every position, so you have to fight every single day in training and be patient and bide your time, like I have done so far.
âCompetition for places elevates your own game to a new level, thatâs what itâs all about. Itâs why we have so many good players in every position to push us on.
âWe are one group here; we all support each other no matter if youâre on the bench or in the starting XI.â
