Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has already agreed terms with Bayern Munich after Monday’s blockbuster news of a potential ‘swap’ deal.

The Frenchman is frustrated with his lack of meaningful minutes in the Premier League under Enzo Maresca and has been linked with a potential January exit for weeks.

However, up until now, it was still doubtful whether Nkunku was ready to jump ship in the winter or if he was willing to see out the season. The frequent Links to Man Utd and PSG were played down by some sources.

On Monday, seemingly everything changed when it was revealed that Chelsea had opened talks with Bayern Munich over young forward Mathys Tel and that the name of Nkunku had been mentioned in these discussions.

Things developed rapidly and Nkunku has already given the green light for the move.

Nkunku agrees Bayern terms

According to Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano, Nkunku would jump at the opportunity to join Bayern and has already agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga giants.

Much will still depend on whether Mathys Tel agrees to move to Chelsea after recently having a clear-the-air talk with coach Vincent Kompany in which the Frenchman reaffirmed his commitment to the club while the Belgian vowed to use him more.

Tel was promised significant game time when he signed a new contract last spring, but he has barely featured under Kompany, which has been a source of some frustration, although the player has been clear about his desire to stay.

Whether this has changed now in light of Chelsea’s interest is unclear and both deals would be separate rather than a formal swap, but it is difficult to imagine the Blues agreeing to offload Nkunku without assurances from Tel or without lining up a different replacement.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg states that Bayern want to complete the deal even if Tel decides to remain at the club, but it could prove difficult to realise. Both Nkunku and Bayern are pushing for a permanent transfer.
