Chelsea reportedly hold “concrete interest” in Sporting CP wonderkid Geovany Quenda, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.

The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene this season and his rapid ascent to stardom has attracted the attention of multiple top clubs across Europe.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Man Utd have all been linked with the Portuguese youngster over the past few months, with the latter deemed to be the frontrunners in the race for his signature due to the presence of Ruben Amorim.

However, Chelsea have now joined the chase to sign Quenda in 2025, according to CaughtOffside.

Enzo Maresca’s side have prioritised signing the best young talents in world football since Clearlake Capital’s arrival in 2022, and they have reportedly identified Quenda as a key transfer target, despite the imminent arrivals of Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian next summer.

Geovany Quenda to leave Sporting?

Quenda’s current release clause at Sporting CP stands at €100 million, but Man Utd are preparing a €60m offer for the 17-year-old, as per Portuguese outlet A Bola.

Amorim has stated that he will not raid his former club during the January transfer window, but he is reportedly interested in signing a number of Sporting stars when the 2025 summer window opens.

Viktor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande have also been heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch since Amorim’s appointment, although interest in Quenda could potentially diminish amid Amad Diallo’s immense recent form.

However, TEAMtalk recently reported that Man Utd officials recently met with Jorge Mendes, Quenda’s agent, to discuss a possible transfer in 2025.

Quenda has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current Sporting CP contract, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just €8.1m, largely due to his lack of top level experience.
