Santiago Gimenez will leave Feyenoord during the January transfer window if a club gives the Eredivisie side an offer that matches their valuation of the player, Algemeen Dagblad expert Mikos Gouka believes.

The question, however, is whether a club will come along during the January transfer window that is willing to put the amount Feyenoord desires on the table.

Real Madrid and Chelsea have both been linked with the player.

“If there is an amount between €40 and €60 million, Feyenoord are always prepared to sell Gimenez,” Gouka told the Voetbalpodcast about the Mexico international attacker. “That would be a huge amount that Feyenoord has never received before. If there is a top offer, Feyenoord is not a club that can say that they have to come back next year.”

According to Gouka, the question is whether there is even a club that wants to meet the demands of the Rotterdam team in the middle of the season.

“Which club is going to pay such an amount in the winter? A striker will have to be injured somewhere. The Feyenoord supporters would find it terrible. It is also annoying from a sporting point of view, because that second place in the Eredivisie, which would qualify them for the Champions League is very important for Feyenoord,” the reporter says.

“If there really is an offer of that magnitude, and Gimwnez himself likes it, they will let him go. Arne Slot has also said that they will not lie down for it. You can buy a new striker for €40m.”

Gouka bases the stated amount on, among other things, the failed transfer of Lutsharel Geertruida.

“Last summer they did not sell Geertruida for €32.5m, so you can roughly estimate what they want for another player, who is also better in the market. Gimenez is also an attacker, and these players often fetch more.”

The Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of Gimenez, who is under contract at De Kuip until mid-2027, is estimated at €32.3m.

Arne Slot previously said that Feyenoord would not say to a good offer for the 22-year-old left-sided player.

“If it is best for the club that he is sold, then so be it,” the coach said in conversation with De Telegraaf.

Real Madrid and Chelsea have both been linked strongly to Gimenez, though a summer deal had looked most probable for him, while both clubs had other options available.
