Fabrizio Romano has given details on the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip, with big stories from Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus, who want to sign Barcelona star Ronald Araujo.

Man City close in on Khusanov and Marmoush

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team appear to be coming through a period of crisis, but off their usual pace in the Premier League, they are working to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window.

Romano has indicated that they are closing in on their two leading targets for the month, with Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush apparently destined to move to the Etihad Stadium. Both players are keen to make the move, with negotiations underway over transfer fees.

“Khusanov, the Uzbekistan centre-back playing for Lens, remains the top target of Manchester City. The conversations are ongoing in a positive way. The agent involved is Jorge Mendes, who is taking care on the negotiations. The player is very keen on joining Manchester City,” Romano revealed on his YouTube channel.

“In terms of offensive targets, there is one player that Manchester City want right now, and that is Omar Marmoush. He’s having a fantastic season at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

“He can play as a central striker or as a winger of course. City believe he can be very similar to Julian Alvarez in covering different positions.

“He’s expensive because Eintracht were hoping to keep the player. Now the player is hoping to make this dream happen. The conversations between the player and his agents, Stellar, are ongoing, and it’s very possible.

“The negotiations between the clubs are about to start. Eintracht will not make it easy because they want to keep the player.”

Amad Diallo’s new Man Utd contract: Details revealed

Romano revealed that Amad Diallo will sign his new deal with Manchester United, making him one of the club’s top-paid young players. He also detailed the length of the deal, which will see the Ivory Coast star commit his long-term future to the Old Trafford side.

“On Thursday, Manchester United will meet with Amad Diallo who’s going to put pen to paper on a new deal. It’s done, it’s confirmed,” Romano said.

“My information is that he will sign until June 2030, so the contract is done. United will not use the current option to extend the contract by one season as they’ll do with Harry Maguire, it’ll be a completely different contract.

“Amad will get a higher salary, one of the highest among Man Utd’s young players.

“The player received calls from two very big clubs but he didn’t want to listen – he’s a big player for Amorim. 2030, no option to extend.”

Barcelona with Araujo decision to make

Ronald Araujo was once described by former Barcelona head coach Xavi as one of the best centre-backs in the world, yet with 18 months left on his contract, the Uruguay international could leave Camp Nou, Romano has confirmed.

“Juventus are coming strong for Ronaldo Araujo,” he said. “Direct contacts are ongoing between Juventus and Araujo. They’ve presented their project, their contract proposal to him. They want to convince the player in a strong way that they have a project for the long term.

“Juve want to sign him immediately. Now it depends on Araujo, and especially on Barcelona. Remember, Ronald has 18 months left on his contract and at the moment there is no agreement to extend his contract, there’s not even a clause, it’s on total standby.

“Let’s see what Barcelona try to do: accept Juventus or reject and try to extend the contract. Juve are going very strong.”
