FootballTransfers LIVE – All the latest news from Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and around Europe!
The summer transfer window in the Premier League and across Europe’s major leagues closed on August 30, and the winter window will not reopen until the new year in January.
This past summer did not see the levels of spending from the Premier League as it did during previous years but there were still some huge transfers across the board.
Chelsea spent the most money (€261 million) on transfers of any club in world football during the 2024 summer transfer window. They signed Tosin Adarabioyo (Fulham), Omari Kellyman (Aston Villa), Marc Guiu (Barcelona), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Leicester), Renato Veiga (Basel), Filip Jorgensen (Villarreal), Caleb Wiley (Atlanta), Aaron Anselmino (Boca Juniors), Pedro Neto (Wolves) and Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid), Estevao (Palmeiras) and Mike Penders (Genk).
Man Utd also spent heavily. They signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG for €50m + €10m in add-ons, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for €42.5m, Lille’s Leny Yoro for an initial €62m and Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for a combined €60m.
Arsenal made David Raya’s loan from Brentford permanent and signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for €45m and Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad for €32m.
Liverpool signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus for a fee of €12m and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia for €30m, although the Georgian goalkeeper won’t arrive until next year.
Elsewhere, we saw Brighton (€231.2m), Aston Villa (€176.2m) and Tottenham (€148m) also splash the cash.

Arteta tipped to replace Guardiola at Man City
Emmanuel Petit reckons Man City will try and appoint Mikel Arteta if Pep Guardiola leaves the club.
“Pep Guardiola has begun to show signs of tiredness in the last two years and you can sometimes see that he is lacking energy,” the World Cup winner told Prime Casino.
“Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool was a huge blow for Guardiola because he had that competition to push him to be at his very best. He’s not a worse manager now but I think he does look tired and mentally it takes a lot of energy to be a manager at the highest level.
“If Guardiola does decide to leave, the best possible replacement would be Mikel Arteta. He knows the club and he knows the philosophy which he has tried to repeat at Arsenal. Things move so fast and anything can happen in football, Arteta could step into Guardiola’s shoes but City wouldn’t be the only club interested in him.”
Gordon set for new Newcastle deal
Antony Gordon is on the cusp of signing a new deal at Newcastle.
“It’s close. I’m really excited but we’ll focus on that when it comes,” he told TNT on Saturday following Newcastle’s draw with Man City.
