Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit of Omar Marmoush, according to German media.

The Egypt international is arguably the Bundesliga’s most in-form player at present. Marmoush has been irresistible in his second season at Eintracht Frankfurt, so far netting 10 goals and providing seven assists in just 11 games across all competitions.

After an already impressive first season, the 25-year-old has taken his game to yet another level this term and this has made him the talk of the town.

Frankfurt are desperately trying to convince him to extend his contract by a further season until 2027 in a bid to bump up his value ahead of a potential summer transfer or, ideally, to keep him at the club for a bit longer.

So far, Marmoush has not yet agreed to fresh terms, though he is not desperate to jump ship. Nevertheless, a summer exit intrigues him – he was already open to leaving this year – and he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Liverpool get serious over Marmoush

The striker has no shortage of suitors. FootballTransfers has been able to confirm that both Arsenal and Liverpool hold a genuine interest in Marmoush, and it seems the latter are now really getting involved.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool are ‘getting serious’ in their pursuit of the 25-year-old. Contact with his camp has been made and the groundwork for a potential transfer is being put in place.

Lamine Yamal – Premier League transfer options ranked as Arsenal and Liverpool ‘FANCY’ Barca star

Marmoush has been billed as a replacement for club legend Mohamed Salah, but Reds fans should rather get excited about a potential partner in crime for the Egyptian King rather than an heir.

The Frankfurt star and Salah occupy completely different areas of the attacking third, with right-footer Marmoush playing either centrally or on the left wing, though the two have very similar skillsets in terms of athleticism, technical ability and their eye for goal.

Frankfurt know that they can’t expect clubs to pay €80 million, so they have set a more realistic price of €50m-€60m, which means that Marmoush will be far from a bargain. However, his form over the past two years certainly justifies such a figure.
