Here We Go! Liverpool seal transfer for Mamardashvili – Romano

Liverpool have finalised a deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to Fabrizio Romano.

After a stunning Euro 2024 campaign with Georgia, the Reds began talks with the goalkeeper over a proposed move.

There were suggestions that Bournemouth have agreed to pay a loan fee of around €5 million for the upcoming season for the player, who would then join Liverpool after.

But the Cherries now look set to complete the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga

from Chelsea on loan.

But now a fresh deal has been agreed, with Mamardashvili joining Liverpool in the summer of 2025 but remaining with Valencia for this season.

Romano tweeted today: “Giorgi Mamardashvili to Liverpool, here we go! Medical today for Georgian goalkeeper as he’s joining Liverpool from Valencia.

“The agreement for €35m package plus sell-on clause will be signed now but he will join Liverpool in July 2025. This season he’s staying in Valencia.”

The move would technically mark the first senior signing for Liverpool this summer transfer window, though he won’t arrive until next season when the current campaign is over.

Alisson Becker on Saudi links

Current Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Saudi Arabia Pro League outfits were reportedly keen on signing the 31-year-old Brazilian international. But he revealed that he knocked them back to stay at Anfield.

In an interview with the Times, Alisson that he was attracted to the idea of moving but nothing came of it.

“I never got to the point where I was talking about wages and things like this. It was just interest, but when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting you are a little bit attracted. That is normal.

“At the end of the day, you play football for love, it is the thing you like to do, but it is our profession and we want to use the years that we have to make the most of it. I think I am open to that personally but not now. Now is not the time.”
