Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been offered a contract that eclipses that of Cristiano Ronaldo and could change everything regarding the future of the Egypt international star.

Salah is out of contract in June 2025 and is currently eligible to talk terms with foreign clubs.

The 32-year-old has surprisingly repeated on a couple of occasions that he is closer to leaving Liverpool than staying, notoriously stating that he is “more out than in”.

This comes amidst the backdrop of Salah enjoying a remarkable season with the Premier League leaders that has seen him score 21 goals and create another 17 in just 29 matches. There is, therefore, no doubt that he remains one of the best players in the world and can stake a very real claim to being at the absolute pinnacle of the game right now.

The fight to land Salah is, therefore, intense. Cash-rich sides from the Saudi Pro League are particularly intent on landing the Arab world’s biggest football star in history and this is reflected in the monster contract offer that Al-Ittihad are ready to offer him.

“The financial offer they are preparing is unprecedented, placing Salah as the potential highest-paid player on the planet, a factor that could be decisive in their decision,” Fichajes reports.

Who is the highest-paid player in the world?

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the highest-paid footballer on the planet, with the Al-Nassr star said to be on a deal that is worth €200 million a season.

This has allowed the Portugal international to fund a lavish lifestyle. Recently, he purchased a customised private jet complete with his silhouette on the sides for an estimated €50m.

Ronaldo also finds himself out of contract at the end of June, yet the signs are that he will sign a new deal with Al-Nassr, with O Jogo reporting that he has agreed to prolong his contract with the club.

If Salah really is to land a world-record deal, it will have to be bigger than this figure – and that is something that, financially, Liverpool clearly cannot compete with.
