Romano’s ‘difficult’ response to BIZARRE Darwin Nunez rumour
Fabrizio Romano has rubbished the bizarre rumour that Atletico Madrid could sign Darwin Nunez from Liverpool.
The Reds forward has had a difficult time since moving to Anfield in 2022. A Jurgen Klopp signing, the German tactician kept the faith in the striker even when he failed to perform.
However, under new boss Arne Slot, the wasteful Uruguay international has been out of the team more often than not. Nunez has started only one Premier League game so far this term and he surely won’t be happy about it.

The fact that Slot does not appear to be his biggest fan has given rise to a bizarre rumour that Liverpool were planning to offload Nunez and potentially replace him with Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
Strangely, the club said to be keen on signing Nunez was Atletico Madrid, who only signed Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth for a combined €107 million in the summer.
Romano on Nunez rumour
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now responded to this odd speculation and completely dismissed it out of hand. “It’s difficult for me even to comment on the Rodrygo and Darwin Nunez rumours,” he told CaughtOffside.
“I don’t even know where these links are coming from. Nunez to Atletico Madrid, Rodrygo to Liverpool. Trust me, now it’s all completely quiet. There are no negotiations or talks for these players, Nunez is completely focused on Liverpool and Atletico just spent €75m plus add-ons on Julian Alvarez two months ago.

“Rodrygo also extended his Real Madrid contract less than one year ago and he’s only focused on Real Madrid. That’s it, nothing more to say.”
Despite Romano’s insistence, it is unlikely that speculation about the future of Nunez will go away anytime soon should he continue to sit on the bench under Slot.
