Fabrizio Romano has hinted that Serge Gnabry could leave Bayern Munich this summer, opening the door for a Premier League return.
The Germany international spent time in Arsenalâs academy as a youngster, but he never made the grade at the Emirates Stadium and moved back to Germany in 2016 in order to kickstart his career.
After a successful stint at Bayern, the 28-year-old has endured an injury-hit season in 2023-24, making just 14 appearances in all competitions. Gnabry has scored in both of his Bundesliga appearances since returning to full fitness, but his time at the Allianz Arena may be coming to an end.

Transfer specialist Romano told CaughtOffside: âWeâve had a lot of rumours about Bayern Munich players in recent times, with Alphonso Davies on the list at Real Madrid, while the club also need to tie down Joshua Kimmich to a new contract.
âAnd now, thereâs been speculation about Serge Gnabry being available this summer, with possible interest from the Premier League, though my understanding is that Bayernâs plans will be finalised once a new manager is appointed, as they still need to decide on their replacement when Thomas Tuchel leaves his job at the end of the season.
âItâs still early for these kinds of decisions, but for sure there would be interest in Gnabry in case Bayern decide to put him on the market this summer.
âWe all know heâs a top player and capable of great things so if they decide to make him available Iâm sure weâll see suitors emerging, but itâs too early to say yet that this will definitely be the case.â

Serge Gnabry to Liverpool?

If Gnabry is placed on Bayernâs âfor saleâ list, then Liverpool would be wise to pursue him as a replacement for Cody Gakpo, who was recently slammed by Jamie Carragher following his performance off the bench during Liverpoolâs 4-3 loss against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Reds legend posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): âGakpo plays like the game is in slow motion.â Several Liverpool fans also expressed their dissatisfaction with Gakpo and many claimed the former PSV Eindhoven winger should be sold this summer.
If Liverpool decided to heed this advice, they will need to dip into the market for a replacement and with Mohamed Salahâs future still up in the air, prioritising a player capable of playing as a right winger would be a wise choice.
Given Gnabryâs current situation at Bayern, he is the perfect option. The German may have endured a down period this campaign, but he remains an exceptional player and would help ease the burden on Salahâs shoulders.
Furthermore, he is capable of playing on both flanks, meaning Liverpool would have an able back-up to both Salah and Luis Diaz if they sign Gnabry.
It remains to be seen if Bayern let Gnabry leave, but a move to Anfield makes perfect sense for both the player and Liverpool.
