Man City and Real Madrid STUNNED in MAJOR Wirtz transfer twist
Florian Wirtz is expected to be one of the most in-demand stars for a transfer this summer but there could be a twist in the future of the Bayer Leverkusen talisman.
Wirtz has established himself as one of the standout young performers in Europe in recent times, having led Leverkusen to their first ever Bundesliga title last season and continuing his impressive form this year.

The 21-year-oldâs progression has attracted serious interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, who are all willing to test Leverkusenâs resolve with bids of more than âŹ100 million this summer.
Wirtzâs departure this summer was expected to be a foregone conclusion, particularly with his contract set to expire in 2027, however Catalan outlet El Nacional report that an âunexpected surpriseâ could occur over his future which would ârevolutionise European footballâ.
The report claims that Wirtz is âseriously consideringâ a âhistoric renewalâ with Leverkusen, with the German giants offering a âsignificantâ salary increase along with the promise of building a âcompetitiveâ project around him.
Wirtz is believed to be happy at Leverkusen, particularly due to his relationship with manager Xabi Alonso, whom is said to have convinced the German international that he can continue to grow at the club as he has done since joining in 2020.

Leverkusen determined to keep Alonso with Wirtz new deal
News of a renewal for Wirtz would prove a âbombshellâ to the likes of City and Bayern, who had been hoping to make the superstar an integral piece of their sporting projects going forward.
Real Madrid had also considered a long-term pursuit of Wirtz, similar to their signing of Jude Bellingham, but a new deal could make a move financially unrealistic for most teams.
Much is likely to depend on the future of Alonso, who is also wanted by Real and other major sides, although the Leverkusen boss has not decided who he will be managing next season.
Alonso is believed to have been key in convincing Leverkusen to offer Wirtz the bumper new deal and it is hoped that keeping hold of the clubâs prized asset would also be enough to convince the Spanish coach to remain and continue to prove their âserious aspirationsâ on the pitch.
