Manchester United are reportedly set to submit a €60 million bid for Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande before the January transfer window closes.

The Red Devils have lost six of their last nine Premier League matches and new boss Ruben Amorim is hoping to shore up his backline in a bid to improve results.

Diomande has been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few months, with the Ivory Coast international enjoying a successful stint under Amorim at Sporting.

‘Ruben Amorim wants Man Utd to SACK him’

Arsenal and Chelsea are also known admirers of the 21-year-old, while Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayern Munich have recently joined the race to sign him, according to Tipsbladet.

Brighton are actively scouring the market for a new centre-back, after missing out on Vitor Reis to Manchester City, and Diomande has emerged as a possible transfer target for Fabian Hurzeler’s side.

However, Man Utd are hoping to win the battle for Diomande and they are now preparing to lodge a €60m bid to sign the Sporting CP star, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Sporting are reportedly resigned to the fact that Diomande is set to leave the club in 2025, and Man Utd are eager to bring him to Old Trafford this month in a bid to catapult themselves up the Premier League table.

Man Utd’s January transfer plans

In addition to Diomande, Man Utd have also been heavily linked with a move for his Sporting CP team-mate Viktor Gyokeres, although a pursuit isn’t likely to take place until this summer.

Lecce star Patrick Dorgu is, however, in talks to join the club as Amorim pushes to bring a new left wing-back to the club.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho could leave Man Utd before the January window closes, amid significant interest from Chelsea and Napoli. Marcus Rashford may also depart if Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund are able to reach an agreement to sign the former England winger.
