Paris Saint-Germain are guilty of one of the most embarrassing blunders of the transfer window and they have given Manchester United faint hope that they may land Randal Kolo Muani after all.

Heading into the January transfer window, the French striker found himself on the outside looking in at PSG and was seeking a way out of the club after failing to live up to his €85 million price tag.

After a lengthy saga, Juventus crystallised as his most active suitors and Kolo Muani travelled to Turin earlier this week to complete his medical and put pen to paper on his contract.

Everything appeared to be going smoothly, with Kolo Muani signing autographs for supporters and head coach Thiago Motta confirming that the 26-year-old had been signed.

However, an official announcement has yet to be made by Juventus. As it turns out, this delay is due to a schoolboy mistake on the part of PSG.

PSG exceed loan limit: A chance for Man Utd?

News broke on Friday evening that PSG were not allowed to sign off on the Kolo Muani transfer as the deal would see the French giants exceed their limit of six international loans.

Xavi Simons (Leipzig), Carlos Soler (West Ham), Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen), Renato Sanches (Benfica), Juan Bernat (Villarreal) and Cher Ndour (Besiktas) are all spending the season temporarily away from the club.

L’Equipe have the sneaking suspicion that PSG were not aware of this limit. Club sources insist that they did know about it, but the French outlet has doubts about this claim due to the unusual levels of commotion noticeable at PSG’s headquarters on Friday.

Either way, the Ligue 1 champions are scrambling to find a solution. Cher Ndou, it appears, is the most likely player to be recalled from his loan by PSG and then sold on.

Kolo Muani is stuck in limbo as he has already signed his Juventus contract, but there are some suggestions that other suitors could try to pounce on the situation by offering PSG a permanent deal.

Man Utd and Tottenham were credited with an interest and may harbour faint hopes of hijacking the transfer. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insists that PSG and Juventus will find a solution for the deal to go through, while he also claims that Man Utd’s interest never went beyond an initial enquiry.
