Man Utd Transfer News Today: Bruno can GO, Romano HERE WE GO, Ronaldo SURPRISE
All the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, as Fabrizio Romano reveals Ruben Amorim’s first signing, bombshell news on Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho, as well as a new left-back target.
Only nine safe at Man Utd
Ruben Amorim has committed to keeping just nine of the Manchester United squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag, with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho among the names the new head coach may be prepared to cut.
The Daily Mail reports that Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Andre Onana are among the players that the former Sporting boss is certainly counting on for his project in the long term.
It is notable that three of these players were added to the squad in the summer, although Joshua Zirkzee already seems to be considered a lost cause.
Romano: Here we go for Diego Leon
Fabrizio Romano was the first to report that a deal is formally in place to allow Diego Leon to join Man Utd from Cerro Porteno next summer.
Romano has confirmed that the 17-year-old Leon will cost Man Utd an initial $4 million (€3.8m, £3.2m), with a further $1m to follow in what are described as “easy add-ons”. A further $3.5m could head to his Paraguayan via further bonuses.
Taking to X, Romano stated: “Manchester United reach verbal agreement to sign 17 year old Paraguayan left back Diego León from Cerro Porteno, here we go!
“Initial fee will be $4m plus $1m easy add-ons and over $3.5m based on player’s/team future performances.
“Diego Leon will arrive in July 2025.”
Gutierrez a target
Man Utd will seek to bolster their options at left-back with a move for Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez, with TeamTalk reporting that the “outstanding prospect” is one of a number of names on their shortlist.
Crucially, Ruben Amorim has already given his OK for the club to move for the 23-year-old, who is also being watched by Bayern Munich.
He has a release clause of €35 million, but 50% of his resale value is held by Real Madrid, which is said to be a complicating factor in any negotiations.
Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell and Rayan Ait-Nouri of Wolves are other possible options for the Red Devils to explore in January.
Victor Lindelof interest confirmed
Man Utd are likely to lose centre-back Victor Lindelof on a free transfer, according to TeamTalk, which reports there is serious interest in the Sweden international defender coming from Serie A.
AC Milan are one of the teams mentioned to have an interest in the centre-back, but there are also rumours linking him to the Saudi Pro League and also Turkey.
Lindelof is out of contract with Man Utd at the end of the season, and with the prospect of selling him in January seen as slim, he is poised to leave the club as a free agent.
Evra makes Ronaldo revelation
Patrice Evra has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo might never have made his return to Man Utd, with the destiny of the Ballon d’Or winner changed by a decision he made in 2018 as he was coming to the end of his career at Real Madrid.
“Has Cristiano ever wanted to come to PSG? Yes. There was Paris, Arsenal… That was before he signed for Juventus,” Evra told RMC.
“He had Chelsea, Juventus, Paris. He said he would NEVER go to Arsenal. He was interested in the PSG project.
“You can criticise Cristiano, but he would have adapted. He would have made an effort. Look at what he is doing in Saudi Arabia. He is a Saudi!”
