Manchester United are ready to battle with rivals Arsenal and Manchester City to sign Xavi Simons this summer, with the Dutch winger still facing an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain.

Simons had an impressive loan at RB Leipzig last season, grabbing eight goals and 11 assists in the Bundesliga, and the German side are hoping to keep him at the club for another season.

However, Simons has insisted he will not decide his future until the conclusion of EURO 2024, allowing a host of teams to declare their interest in the wonderkid including Bayern Munich, along with the reported Premier League sides.

PSG activated their €5 million buy-back clause on Simons last summer after he starred at PSV but ‘nothing has been decided over his long-term future, according to L’Equipe.

The report claims that Simons could be integrated into Luis Enrique’s first team next season or be loaned out once again, with a permanent transfer less likely due to PSV retaining a sell-on clause if PSG were to cash in on the 21-year-old before January 2025.

Simons, who has three years remaining on his contract, is also understood to have a clause allowing him to choose which team to join and PSG – along with the interested clubs – will await his decision after the Euros.

Which teams could Xavi Simons sign for?

Although PSG are looking to pivot into a younger era following the departure of Kylian Mbappe, L’Equipe state that the most likely outcome for Simons is another loan.

Simons is believed to be prioritising first team football in his decision, however it remains to be seen which teams would be open to be bringing him in on loan, with Premier League sides likely to prefer a permanent deal.

Bayern Munich and Leipzig are thought to already have loan offers in place for Simons and PSG’s reluctance to sanction a permanent sale this summer may see the Dutchman look to continue his development in Germany.

Arsenal and Man Utd are looking to increase their depths on the flanks and may be interested in a temporary move for Simons, however City will likely only pursue a deal if there is a realistic pathway to a permanent deal.
