Chelsea have all but ruled themselves out of buying Nico Williams, who has been linked with the club across the summer.
The Atletico Bilbao winger was reportedly on the radar of the Blues as well as Liverpool, but now reports in The Athletic say that moves are not likely to take place.
For Chelsea, the total cost of the deal is regarded as too expensive. It’s thought a deal for Williams would come at a hefty price – given his release clause of around £53 million and £200,000 per week wages.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have no interest in Williams, according to James Pearce. The news comes after Fabrizio Romano stated that the club were keen.
Williams – who FootballTransfers values at €37.7m as per its Estimated Transfer Value algorithm – is being watched by several clubs following his fine form last season and in Euro 2024 for Spain.
The youngster is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in world football and his performance against Italy at Euro 2024 showcased his raw ability.
The Athletic have revealed that Barca face a €130 million “black hole” in their budget and a deal for the Spain star will only be possible if they sell a major star by the end of the month
Lamine Yamal has made it clear he would love to hook up with Williams at Camp Nou, but it seems unlikely as things stand.
As a result, a move to the Premier League could be on the cards if Arsenal or Chelsea decide to pay his Athletic Club release clause.
