Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly in talks to extend his contract with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.

The Portuguese legend has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Saudi Arabian club and he is now in discussions to extend his stay amid his desire to play at the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 after his contract at Man Utd was terminated ahead of the Qatar World Cup and he is now in talks to extend his stay in Riyadh.

Man Utd stars ‘felt less important’ after Ronaldo return

That is according to Nicolo Schira, who posted on X: “Al-Nassr have opened talks to extend Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, which expires in June. Ronaldo would like to play [in] the World Cup 2026.

“If he plays in 2026, he will make a historic record, becoming the first player in 6 different World Cup editions.”

Ronaldo, who has scored 64 goals in 71 games for Al-Nassr, reportedly earns around €200 million per year on his current deal in Saudi Arabia and he is believed to be the highest-paid player in world football.

Cristiano Ronaldo on Erik ten Hag

A key reason for Ronaldo’s Man Utd exit was his relationship with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, and he recently launched a scathing review of the Dutchman on YouTube.

He told former Man Utd team-mate Rio Ferdinand: “Man Utd, they need to rebuild everything, in my opinion. The coach says they cannot compete to win the League and Champions League.

“As a Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the league or Champions League. You have to be, to mentally say, listen, maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try.”

Ronaldo scored 27 goals in 54 appearances during his second spell at Old Trafford, but he departed after slamming Ten Hag during a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
