Paris Saint-Germain players are happy that Kylian Mbappe left for Real Madrid in the summer, according to French media.

The megastar finally completed his dream move to Spain’s capital after a two-year saga, leaving PSG after seven eminently successful years in his hometown.

During his time in Paris, Mbappe became the face of PSG and his influence over the club grew steadily. At one point, it has been claimed, he asked the bosses to sell record signing Neymar because the 25-year-old did not get along with the Brazilian.

Mbappe was even referred to as PSG’s ‘sporting director’ as the club tried to appease him by signing his friends or players he liked, but the two parties ultimately separated in acrimony with the club refusing to pay the France star €55 million in wages and bonuses he is still owed.

Mbappe’s mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, has taken PSG to court and she, too, was an influential figure at the club during her son’s time there – and her influence was not always positive.

Mbappe’s mother a ‘tyrant’

According to Footmercato, some players at PSG are ‘relieved’ that Mbappe left the club for Real Madrid in the summer. While he generally got along well with the rest of the dressing room, it is asserted that the stars at the club now feel less pressure and ‘less spied on.’

When Mbappe left, he obviously took his ‘clan’ with him and this has also had a liberating effect. “The player’s mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, was not very popular in the Parisian environment. The entourages of the other players in the group had a lot of trouble with her. Some even described her as a ‘tyrant,'” the French outlet writes.

Lamari caused ‘a lot of tension’ at the club, even in the VIP box during matchdays, when those around her felt they couldn’t speak and exchange information freely. PSG, it is concluded, ‘appreciate life without Mbappe.’
