Chelsea given Osimhen boost as Man Utd ‘COMPLICATIONS’ emerge
Manchester United’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen has been confirmed, but two potential hiccups complicate the deal, which is welcome news for his other suitors, including Chelsea.
The Nigerian striker has been almost unplayable since joining Galatasaray on loan last summer. Osimhen has notched 17 goals and five assists in 23 appearances for the Istanbul giants.
The 26-year-old continues to enchant Europe’s elite, with many clubs in the market for an elite No.9, among them Man Utd and Chelsea. Indeed, on Sunday, it was revealed that the Red Devils have made Osimhen a ‘verbal contract offer’ for a potential summer move.

Man Utd and French champions PSG, it was claimed, had informed Osimhen and his parent club Napoli that they were prepared to trigger his €75 million release clause in the next window.
However, it was unclear how Osimhen reacted to this approach from Man Utd and it seems that there are doubts about a potential move to Old Trafford.

Osimhen to Man Utd complicated
According to TEAMtalk, Man Utd are indeed keen to bring Osimhen to Manchester in the summer, but two things are complicating this. The report states that Osimhen’s hefty wage demands and Man Utd’s expected lack of Champions League football make a deal difficult to pull off.
There are similar concerns regarding Viktor Gyokeres, as FootballTransfers has been exclusively reporting since late 2024. The Sporting CP striker is a top target for the Red Devils but is unwilling to move to a crisis club that is not guaranteed to play in Europe’s premier competition.
Chelsea handed DREAM opportunity to sign Delap alternative
Regarding Osimhen, the news of the above-described complications will be music to the ears of his other suitors, such as PSG and Chelsea. The latter had wanted to sign him last summer but the deal collapsed precisely because of his wage demands.
Chelsea were unwilling to change their wage structure for the Nigerian and there could be similar concerns this year. However, recent reports have claimed that the Stamford Bridge outfit could be more flexible in the upcoming window as they seek to get to the next level.
Chelsea are also chasing Athletic Club star Nico Williams and are said to be willing to make significant concessions to land him. In fact, it has been asserted that they are ready to make an ‘impossible-to-refuse’ offer – perhaps they could do similar with Osimhen.
