Gyokeres transfer race takes another twist
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have both joined the race to sign Sporting CP goal machine Viktor Gyokeres.
The Sweden international was one of Arsenal’s key targets during the summer transfer window, however the Gunners opted against triggering his €100 million release clause, despite missing out on Benjamin Sesko.
Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on Gyokeres’ situation in Portugal following their failure to complete a deal for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen this summer.
Gyokeres release clause bombshell
However, TEAMtalk have now reported that Liverpool and Tottenham are monitoring Gyokeres as they eye a possible move in 2025.
Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke for a club record fee during the most recent transfer window, but Richarlison continues to be linked with an exit and Gyokeres has now reportedly emerged as a top target for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are interested in completing a deal for the Swede amid Darwin Nunez’s uncertain future.

The Uruguay international scored against Bournemouth on Saturday, but the Reds could look to offload him next year and Gyokeres is seen as the ideal replacement.

The 26-year-old joined Sporting from Coventry City for just €20 million last summer and he enjoyed a sublime debut campaign under Ruben Amorin, registering over 50 goal contributions in all competitions.
Gyokeres has continued his incredible form at the start of the 2024-25 season. The Sweden forward has 14 goals and five assists in 10 appearances for club and country so far this term, including a brace against AVS on Sunday evening.
In addition to interest from the Premier League, Gyokeres is also wanted by Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, as per TEAMtalk.
Luis Enrique’s side lost Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer this summer and the Spanish manager appears unconvinced by both Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos. As a result, Marco Asensio has been picked as a false nine in three of PSG’s five league matches so far this season.
