West Ham are emerging as favourites to sign Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton.

Ferguson is keen to link up again with Graham Potter though he has interest from Germany and Tottenham, Bournemouth, Fulham and Everton.

The 20-year-old striker, who burst on to the scene as a teenager under Potter following his move from Irish outfit Bohemians in 2021, has endured a troubled time with injury over the last few seasons, struggling to carve out a sustained period in the Brighton team.

Ferguson has started just twice in the Premier League this term but is set to return after an ankle injury, having not played since his substitute appearance against West Ham in December.

The Irons are eagerly searching for reinforcements to bolster Potter’s squad ahead of January’s transfer deadline, with attacking positions the priority.

Injuries to hybrid forward Jarrod Bowen and first-choice No 9 Michail Antonio, who suffered a life-threatening car accident that last month, have left Potter with limited options in attacking areas of late.

The West Ham boss was forced to select a front three of Carlos Soler, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus during Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

Striker Danny Ings, 32, is viewed predominantly as an impact player at the London Stadium, having started just once in the Premier League and come off the bench in each of West Ham’s last four games in the competition.

Hammers target and Ajax striker Brian Brobbey was back in training with the Dutch club on Monday after a trip to London at the weekend following enquiries over a potential move in January.

In March 2021, Brobbey signed a contract with RB Leipzig, joining the Bundesliga club on July 1, 2021. However, his time in Germany was short-lived.

He returned to Ajax on loan in December 2021. During this loan spell, he made a significant impact, prompting Ajax to re-sign him on a permanent basis in July 2022 for a reported fee of £13.7million.

The Hammers are also alert to Emmanuel Latte Lath’s proposed move from Middlesbrough to Atlanta United having stalled.
