‘We came last year and the fans were incredible. It shows just how far the club has come in the last few years when you see so many people over in America wearing Wrexham shirts, so it’s really good that the US fan base get the chance to come and support us.

Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club in 2021 they have secured remarkable back to back promotions and Jones, 39, who was appointed as the clubs first team coach two years ago says that the Hollywood owners have been excellent during his time there.

‘They have been superb and brought in some excellent people on and off the pitch including a quality management team of Phil Parkinson and Steve Parkin who have worked together before and have great experience and knowledge of the game. I’ve been fortunate to play for some very good owners in my career and Rob and Ryan are up there with the best.

They understand the culture and history of the club and have fully immersed themselves in the local and wider community; everyone connected with Wrexham cannot speak highly enough of them’.

The former England Under 21 International experienced Premier League promotion four times as a player with three different clubs and sees some key similarities with Wrexham. ‘Whenever I’ve experienced success as a player their has always been excellent management, a well run club and a good team spirit and mentality amongst the squad, which is all evident at Wrexham.’

Jones actually started his footballing journey at Wrexham as a nine year old before being signed by Manchester United and went onto make 4 first team appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He was bought by Derby County for £1.5 million in 2007 and also played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Blackburn Rovers.

‘Having grown up only ten minutes from the stadium in Wrexham I know exactly what this double promotion means to the fans as some of my close friends and family have been season ticket holders for years. The fans have backed the team from day one and deserve this success.’

Wrexham will return to America later in the summer for pre season and will face Chelsea and Bournemouth in California before travelling to Canada to take on Vancouver Whitecaps.
