PROUD Frank Lampard said that “beautiful football can come later’ after Everton beat Man Utd on Saturday.
The Toffees held on to win 1-0 at Goodison Park thanks to an Anthony Gordon goal in the first half.
And after the game, the ex-Chelsea boss revealed he was happy with the performance and insisted his side have to win ugly to stay up.
Frank Lampard said: “I’m very proud. These are pressure times with the reality of the situation, but at Goodison we’ve been good, a fifth win in seven, getting clean sheets.
‘Away from home is a different aspect but when we come together, the players, the fans here we’re hard to beat.
“It starts with the physical output, the fighting spirit. That’s what the fans demand and rightly so. When you give them that you give yourself a chance.
“You make your own luck but it’s not just luck because Jordan makes a great save and then we get a deflected goal – I got a lot of those and you fight for that.
“In the position we’re in beautiful football can come later. I’ve got ambitions at the club to stay up and change some things, but in the position we’re in it’s fighting first.
“We’ve got loads to do. It’s one win. We should have got a result in the week, you sit there and say, ‘If only’ but when it goes against you have to keep going.
“It’s not easy when you wake up after Burnley but it’s my job to lift everyone. It’s one win and we’ve got a lot to do.”

With their win over the Red Devils, Everton have gone four points clear of the relegation zone.
However, they face a tough run-in in their remaining eight games.
Lampard’s men have to travel to Anfield for the Merseyside derby at the end of this month, while they’ve also got tough matches against Arsenal and Chelsea.
