Former England assistant manager Steve Holland has been sacked just four months after taking over Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos.
Holland was appointed head coach of the J league club in December, just months after Gareth Southgate stepped down as England manager following defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
However, a disastrous start to the season has seen the club languishing in the relegation zone having picked up just one win from their opening 11 games in the league.
Following a 3-2 defeat by Shimizu S-Pulse on Wednesday the club released a statement noting that Holland had been relieved of his duties.
Former Leicester and Leeds defender Patrick Kisnorbo will take charge of the club on an interim basis.
Despite their struggles domestically Yokohama have reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League and will travel to Saudi Arabia next week to face an Al-Nassr side featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane.

Holland spent more than a decade working alongside Gareth Southgate in the England setup
Holland spent more than a decade in the England coaching setup, having initially teamed up with Southgate during his time in charge of the under-21s.
Together they led the Three Lions to two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi in 2018.
Holland’s time at St George’s Park is also characterised by his rift with Arsenal defender Ben White.
As the England team were in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, Holland is reported to have made a pointed remark towards White about his lack of interest in football outside of his professional life.
White departed the England camp shortly after and has not made himself available for selection in the years since.
