Gary Neville has been one of the most outspoken critics of Arsenal in recent years, and the Manchester United legend is still adamant that the Gunners will not win the Premier League this season.

The former England international has been a vocal critic of Arsenal’s transfer policy and their lack of ambition in the transfer market, and he believes that the club’s current squad is not good enough to challenge for the title.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “I don’t think Arsenal will win the league this season. I think they’re too far away.

“I think they’ve got a lot of work to do in terms of the squad and the recruitment. I think they’ve got to get a lot better in terms of the quality of the players they’re bringing in.

“I think they’ve got to get a lot better in terms of the mentality of the players they’re bringing in. I think they’ve got to get a lot better in terms of the leadership of the club.”

Neville believes that Arsenal’s biggest problem is their lack of leadership, both on and off the pitch. He believes that the club needs to appoint a manager who can bring the best out of the players and instil a winning mentality.

“I think they need a leader,” he said. “I think they need a manager who can come in and galvanise the players, who can come in and get the best out of the players, who can come in and create a winning mentality.

“I think they need a leader who can come in and create a culture of winning, and I think that’s the biggest problem at Arsenal.”

Neville also believes that Arsenal need to invest in the squad if they are to have any chance of challenging for the title. He believes that the club needs to bring in players who can make an immediate impact, rather than relying on young players who may take time to develop.

“I think they need to invest in the squad,” he said. “I think they need to bring in players who can make an immediate impact, rather than relying on young players who may take time to develop.

“I think they need to bring in players who can make a difference and help the team to win games. I think they need to bring in players who can help the team to win the league.”

It remains to be seen if Arsenal can turn things around and challenge for the title this season, but one thing is for sure – Gary Neville is still adamant that they won’t be lifting the trophy come May.
