Gary Neville has urged Harry Kane to quit Tottenham Hotspur and move to Manchester United, claiming it is his ‘only option’ if he wants to win trophies in England.
The England captain has been linked with a move away from Spurs in recent weeks, with United reportedly interested in signing him.
And Neville, who spent his entire career at United, believes Kane should make the switch if he wants to win silverware.
“Harry Kane has to make a decision,” Neville said on Sky Sports. “He’s 27, he’s been at Tottenham for 13 years, he’s been loyal, he’s been brilliant, he’s been a great professional.
“But if he wants to win trophies, he has to leave Tottenham. He has to go somewhere else.
“He’s not going to win trophies at Tottenham, and if he wants to win trophies in England, his only option is Manchester United.”
Kane has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers since breaking into the Spurs first team in 2014, scoring 181 goals in 278 appearances.
He has won the Golden Boot twice, and was named the PFA Player of the Year in 2016.
But despite his individual success, Kane has yet to win a major trophy with Spurs, and Neville believes he should move on if he wants to add silverware to his CV.
“He’s got to make a decision,” Neville said. “He’s got to decide whether he wants to stay at Tottenham and be loyal, or whether he wants to win trophies.
“If he wants to win trophies, he has to go to Manchester United. It’s as simple as that.”
Kane has been linked with a move to United in recent weeks, with reports suggesting the Red Devils are willing to pay up to £150 million for the striker.
United have been in the market for a new striker since the departure of Romelu Lukaku last summer, and Kane would be an ideal replacement.
He would add goals, experience and leadership to the United attack, and could help the club challenge for major honours once again.
Kane is yet to make a decision on his future, but Neville believes he should make the move to United if he wants to win trophies in England.
