Geovany Quenda is following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo by leaving Sporting CP for the Premier League, and the teenage sensation has revealed that the legendary attacker has offered him words of advice.

Chelsea have agreed a €50 million deal that will see Quenda move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026, beating Manchester United to a player that Ruben Amorim thought he had signed by offering the teenager the opportunity to spend another year in his homeland.

Ronaldo gave the 18-year-old some simple words of wisdom in the past.

“He told me to work, to keep working, and that I am very young and a lot will still happen in my life,” he told Lusa in quotes relayed by A Bola.

Quenda also spoke about the importance of Amorim’s influence in his career, with the current Man Utd head coach having given him his debut with the Lisbon side.

“He believed in me since last year, when he called me up to the first team twice. I think those were some of the most important moments of my life. I can only thank the coach,” he said.

Chelsea move changes nothing

Quenda says that although he has already won a move to Chelsea, he is very much focused on next season with Sporting – an attitude that Ronaldo would no doubt approve of.

“It’ll be just like the first day I arrived here,” he said. “Representing sporting must always be a source of pride. It’ll be like that every day. I have to help Sporting and I’ll even play goalkeeper if necessary. We have to win games and titles.

“I’ll miss it, of course, because it was the club that signed me when I was 12 years old. They’ve always treated me well and I can only be grateful.”

Quenda could potentially be joined by Ronaldo at Sporting next summer, with the Man Utd legend apparently having waved goodbye to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
