DEPORTIVO TOLUCA WOMEN were guilty of bad sportsmanship when they took advantage of a horrible injury to score against Atletico San Luis.

Jimenez was not under any immediate pressure but unfortunately for the keeper she twisted her knee horribly as she took a touch of the ball.

And to make her luck even worse the ball did not roll out of play despite being close to the touchline.

That allowed Toluca star Mariel Roman to pick up the ball and cross for Stephanie Baz who had the simple task of tapping into the empty net to give her side a 1-0 lead.

San Luis players were outraged with the incident as some went to attend to Jimenez who was rolling around in agony – others protested the referee for allowing the goal to stand.

Jimenez managed to limp off the pitch but is reported to have ruptured her ACL and could spent three weeks out injured.

The shot-stopper is already back in the gym undergoing her rehabilitation and shared videos of her progress on Instagram.

She also provided an update on the platform saying: “I want to thank you all for your messages of support.

“I’ll need surgery, and I’ll work hard to return as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, fans on social media shared their disapproval of Toluca taking advantage to score – even though San Luis managed to fight back to draw 2-2 in the Liga MX Femenil clash.

One supporter wrote on Twitter: “The referee should have stopped the play, first is the integrity of the players.

Another added: “Unfair what happened, both Toluca’s responsibility for not making the fair play, and the arbitration in the Liga MX Femenil.”

A third said: “There is no shame in those players, they put on the lowest level.”
