ONSTED – The Coldwater Lady Cardinal Golf team made the long trip to Onsted on Monday to compete in the Onsted Invitational held at the Devil’s Lake Golf Course.
Coldwater put together a solid day of golf, coming home with a third-place finish after firing a team score of 444. The team from Tecumseh won the event with a score of 409, followed by Concord in second place with a 439 and Coldwater in third with their 444.
Coldwater was led on the day by senior Hailey Price who fired a solid round of 93, earning her Medalist honors on the day.
Violet Cunkle also earned a top 10 finish with her efforts on the links, firing a personal best score of 104, good enough for fifth place.
Also adding to the Coldwater third place finish was Claire Hawver with a 118; Drew Sharpley with a 129; and McKinley Earles with a 137.
Coldwater golf will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to the Sturgis Bank Invitational.

Coldwater hosts annual Lady Cardinal Invitational
The Coldwater Golf Course was home to the annual Lady Cardinal Invitational on Friday, with the team from Gull Lake coming away with the overall victory after shooting a team score of 361. Sturgis finished in second place with a 372, followed by Battle Creek Lakeview in third place with a 379. Coldwater finished in sixteenth place with a score of 479.
Coldwater was led on the day by senior Hailey Price who fired off a round of 90, good enough for tenth place.
Rounding out the Coldwater effort was Drew Sharpley in sixty-ninth place with a 125; Claire Hawver in seventieth place with a round of 127; and McKinley Earles in eighty-first place with a 137.
Lakeview’s Amiyah Gibson took home medalist honors, winning with a superb score of 80.
Coldwater tennis falls to Northwest
JACKSON – The Coldwater Cardinal tennis team dropped their first Interstate 8 matchup of the season Monday night, falling to Northwest by the score of 6-2.
Taking wins for Coldwater were Grady Brockway who took the win at No. 3 singles, winning by scores of 6-1 and 6-2, while the No. 3 doubles team of Tucker Wischmeyer and Jakob Hamacher won in straight sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-3.
Also playing well but falling was Dawson Brown at No. 1 singles; Eric Rucker at No. 2 singles; Joe Searls at No. 4 singles; the No. 1 doubles team of Claudel Wischmeyer and Evan Poradzisz; the No. 2 doubles team of Sam Larr and Logun Fisher; and the No. 4 doubles team of Cayden Wood and Carson Snyder.
Coldwater tennis will be back in action Tuesday when they face Hillsdale.
