Sep. 19—HUDSON, Wis. — The Bemidji State women’s golf team was close to passing Upper Iowa before settling in at 10th place after the second and final round of the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl concluded Tuesday at the Troy Burne Golf Course in Hudson, Wis.
Sophomore Isabella Depew recorded an ace on hole No. 11 during the final round.
Bemidji State finished with a combined score of 720 strokes (364-356) to finish just one shot back of Upper Iowa (719), which placed ninth. Minnesota State took home the title by 17 shots with a 611. Minnesota State also had the top individual in Anna Cihak, who posted a two-day total of 148 to win by a stroke.
BSU senior Mollie Albrecht trimmed a few strokes off her opening-round 85 to finish with an 82 in the second round, giving her a 167 to tie for 31st. Albrecht had three birdies during the final round and five pars.
Senior Maddy Sawyer had similar rounds of 93-92 for a final total of 185 to tie for 48th. During the final round on Tuesday, Sawyer had six pars.
Freshman Elli Anderson was just a few shots back of Sawyer, posting rounds of 94-93 for a 187 to tie for 50th. Anderson had three pars during the final round.
Depew had a strong final round of 89 to go along with an opening round 101 for a 190, tying for 54th. Depew recorded her ace on hole 11 and added three pars during the final round.
Freshman Haylee Kammann carded rounds of 92-100 for a 192 to finish in 56th. During the final round on Tuesday, Kammann posted four pars.
Bemidji State will have the coming week off before traveling to Marshall for the Mustang Invitational from Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
