At the end of the month, the best male golfers from the U.S. and Europe will face off in Italy.
The 44th iteration of the Ryder Cup, a biennial match play competition between American and European golfers, will start Sept. 29 and run to Oct. 1.
After the U.S. hosted the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin in 2021, this year’s edition will take place in Europe. More specifically, some of the world’s top golfers will play in the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club outside of Rome.
The U.S. Team will attempt to win their second straight competition. Since continental Europe (and not just Great Britain and Ireland) was included in the competition starting in 1979, Team Europe holds a 11-9 edge over the Americans with one tie (1989).
