Manchester and West Branch boys secure spots in district tournament

TUSCARAWAS TWP. — The season continues for the Manchester and West Branch boys golf teams.

Top-3 finishes in Wednesday’s Division II sectional at The Elms County Club guaranteed the Panthers and Warriors berths in next week’s district at Windmill Lakes.

Smithville rolled to the team title with a round of 317. Manchester was runner-up with a 332. West Branch finished third at 334, two strokes ahead of fourth-place South Range.

Brady Johnson shot 81 to lead the Panthers. He finished tied for 10th.

West Branch’s Lane Allison tied for 12th at 82.

Smithville’s Gavin Vonalmen shot 73 to earn medalist honors. Coventry’s Ryan Dinan, South Range’s Michael Garwacki and Springfield’s Brady Hahn earned individual district berths.

Hahn won four-way playoff with Marlington’s Garett Dillon, Triway’s Travis Snyder and Waynedale’s Jordan Miller after each tied for fourth at 76. Hahn beat Miller on the fourth playoff hole.
