Call it the 17th hole, if you’re into metaphors and such.
That’s what local teams and players are facing this week in the form of regional tournaments, the final step toward making the state championships, which will be held at Mission Inn Resort & Club Nov. 7-15.
The Volusia-Flagler squads and individuals still standing got here by way of district tournaments last week where the top three teams and individuals from non-qualifying teams advanced. It will be a little different in the regional round, where the top two teams and individuals from non-advancing squads will earn entry into the state tournament. Also, an additional eight teams and individuals from each of the three classes will make the field via an FHSAA formula based on regular season, district and regional performances.
The regional round begins on Monday and by Tuesday afternoon, all local teams and golfers should be finished.
