He Needed A Break Because He Had Too Much Mental Pressure – Mohammad Hafeez Feels Virat Kohli Is Facing Same Problem As Hasan Ali

Date:

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Mohammad Hafeez has said that the former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli, who is going through a lean patch, and Pakistan National Cricket Team out-of-form pacer Hasan Ali are facing the same problem of taking “too much mental pressure”.

The modern-day batting great Virat Kohli, who has smashed 70 international centuries, has been going through a lean patch. In the recently concluded all-format tour of England, the 33-year-old had an awful run. He registered scores of 11 & 20 in the Edgbaston Test, 1 and 11 in two T20Is, and 16 and 17 in two ODIs. Currently, Kohli is on a break as he has been rested for the entire West Indies tour as well as the Zimbabwe tour.

Talking about Hasan Ali, the Pakistan National Cricket Team right-arm pacer was dropped from the squad for the Asia Cup 2022 following a string of poor performances and pacer Naseem Shah replaced him in the squad.

Meanwhile, Hafeez said that Kohli needed a break because he had taken too much mental pressure and the BCCI’s decision to rest him for the West Indies tour was the best decision. Earlier, the ex-Pakistan captain had said that the Pakistan pacer Hasan should have been given a break long ago because he was taking too much mental pressure.

“Virat Kohli is one of the best players of the past 10 years. I think he is also facing the same problem.. he needed a break because he had too much mental pressure. Their decision to rest Virat for this series was the best decision for him,” said Hafeez on Dawn.

The 41-year-old further said that Kohli is an impact player and he has failed to play an impactful knock for the side in the past 2-3 years. He added that although Kohli smashed a half-century against Pakistan National Cricket Team at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in UAE, his knock had no impact.

“I think Virat Kohli is an impact player. In the past 2-3 years, we saw that the impact wasn’t there. Even when he scored the half-century against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup last year, that was, to me, impactless. Until you can’t bring an impact, there’s no point of you playing,” said Hafeez.

“Every player requires a break. The Indian board made a good decision. This break will help him get back to becoming an impact player. He had lost his impact.”
