Rasmus Hojlund has finally opened up to leaving Manchester United for AC Milan.
United have been trying to offload Hojlund all summer but the Denmark striker has been continually refusing to listen to any offers.
But having been left on the bench for the whole of the Fiorentina friendly on Saturday, Hojlund has now finally accepted his time is up at Man Utd.
Hojlund to Milan
AC Milan have made Hojlund their primary target for the number nine position this month, and the striker is now open to the move.
Pietro Balzano reports on Wednesday morning that there has been direct contact for the first time between Milan and SEG, the agency that represents Hojlund.
Balzano says that Milan are also in direct talks with Man Utd to agree on a transfer fee.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed this news after Balzano had revealed it, with the ‘Here we Go’ journalist saying that the transfer is advancing.
It is reported that Milan could pay a loan fee of €6 million for Hojlund with the option to make the transfer permanent next summer for €45m. Milan will also cover his salary.
Man Utd are happy to let Hojlund leave on an initial loan as they know they will not be able to sell him permanently this summer.
Hojlund is no longer in manager Ruben Amorim’s plans for the coming season.
Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old has struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.
Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.
Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United have now given up on the striker.
Hojlund exploded in the first half of 2023 at Atalanta as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
He scored 15 goals in the calendar year for club and country prior to his move to Man Utd.
However, he has failed badly to fulfil his potential at United.
