Now Wolves have finally discovered their mojo, they are using Nottingham Forest as inspiration to make a great leap forward.
The comparison isnât so daft. Champions League chasers Forest finished last season 17th with 32 points (following a four-point deduction) â precisely the position Wolves are in now. They even both have Portuguese managers.
Saturdayâs comeback win at Ipswich effectively secured Wolvesâs Premier League status and they have picked up 10 points in four games without the banned Matheus Cunha.
In Brazil stars Andre and Joao Gomes, raiding wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and in-form striker Jorgen Stand Larsen, they have individuals at the same level as Forestâs squad.
âEvery league has a team that surprises. Forest have done it this year, hopefully we can surprise a little bit next year,â said Strand Larsen, whose late winner on Saturday was his fourth goal in three matches.
âLooking at our quality, I canât see why we shouldnât build on this momentum to have a great next season. We want to chase the teams above us and finish where we should, and thatâs not 17th.â

Wolves all but secured Premier League survival after beating Ipswich 2-1 on Saturday

They are in similar nick to Nottingham Forest last season, who also finished 17th before their meteoric rise to third place under Nuno Espirito Santo this year
