The India vs West Indies fourth and fifth T20Is will go as per schedule after Guyana President’s intervention in making the visa arrangements for both teams. The fourth T20I will be played on August 6, Saturday in Florida and the fifth on Sunday, August 7 at the same venue. Both teams will reach Miami by Thursday for the fourth T20I which starts at 10.30 am local time on Saturday, August 6.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Ricky Skerritt has confirmed that the two games will be now played in Florida as per schedule. He also confirmed that players from both teams will reach Miami by Thursday. The flight time between Georgetown, Guyana, and Miami is about five hours.
“It was a timely and influential diplomatic effort by His Excellency,” said Ricky Skerritt, the president of Cricket West Indies (CWI), thanking the head of the Guyana government.
Meanwhile, The final two games present a lot of opportunities for both teams to continue their experiments. For India, the experiment to open with Suryakumar Yadav certainly worked in the third T20I as he scored 76 off 44 balls in a chase of 165. Rohit Sharma also clarified the reason behind opening with SKY in the previous game.
“We want the guys to be able to bat anywhere, that is one thought. We don’t want guys batting in specific positions – T20 is a different format, guys should be flexible. At the same time, we want to keep in mind certain guys have specific roles and need to bat at specific positions,” Rohit said at the toss in the second T20I.
Meanwhile, Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran lamented at yet another loss against India. He said that they failed to take early wickets with the ball and also felt that the score they put up was below par.
” Felt we had to get early wickets. Didn’t do that. We felt like we had enough. India bowled well. Wicket was on the slower side, felt it was difficult to keep scoring on it. Would’ve been a different game had we got early wickets. We kept losing wickets in the middle overs. We lost the game but did a lot of right things. Felt like we were 10-15 runs short. But early wickets could’ve changed the game today” said Pooran after the third T20I loss.
