Thierry Henry has been tipped to join fellow Arsenal hero Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey by picking up a managerial job this month, with Jurgen Klopp said to have been chasing the France legend for the RB Leipzig job.
Henry has previously had coaching stints in charge of Monaco, Montreal Impact and with the France U21 side, but he is presently out of work in a managerial capacity.
But while the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey have picked up jobs in the Championship in recent times, the Frenchman will not be hooking up with Klopp at the Bundesliga side.
Sky Sport Deutschland reporter Philipp Heinze confirms: “Thierry Henry is not a coaching candidate at RB Leipzig. He is highly regarded and may eventually become an official part of the Red Bull group. Currently, however, he is not an option for the Leipzig head coaching position.”
Henry has a future in the Red Bull group
Henry to Leipzig is, therefore, not currently a topic, despite rumours that might suggest otherwise.
Instead, it appears that Arsenal’s record scorer could take up some kind of overarching position in the Red Bull organisation, which has various clubs around the world, including France, Austria, Brazil and Japan.
Klopp has undertaken such a role after leaving Liverpool last summer. The German is currently the head of global soccer with Red Bull, meaning that he is in charge of the overall footballing strategy of the company’s group of clubs.
RB Leipzig is Red Bull’s flagship team and it appears that the former Reds boss has his work cut out turning the team around.
The next chapter of the team’s adventure, meanwhile, will not be headed by Henry, with his former Arsenal colleague Cesc Fabregas, currently Como boss, now linked with the job.
